sustainable from start to finish
Pitchfork T Cattle are raised on over 150,000 acres of diverse landscapes, including forests, deserts, and irrigated pastures. Our land is pesticide-free and fertilized solely with organic compost produced on the ranch.
Our cattle graze on a variety of native grasses, trees, and foliage, also benefiting from fresh water sources such as snowmelt rivers, creeks, and springs. We practice rotational grazing across different terrains to mimic natural migration patterns, ensuring we are mindful of the wildlife that shares our land.
Our beef is exclusively grass-fed, grass-finished. It is never grained or confined in a feed lot. Because we keep our cattle from birth to finish, we have a large herd at different ages with different stewardship needs, which requires a lot of land and intensive management to produce the best beef while caring for the land. When you eat Pitchfork-T beef, you taste the place. It’s rich, rugged, and working for the environment, just like us.
WHAT DOES SUSTAINABLE MEAN AT PITCHFORK t ?
Sustainable to us, is being mindful in each and every step that we take in our ranching practices. From the way we rotational graze, giving back to the land as much as we take, also adjusting to the changes that Mother Nature brings our way, assuring that we still raise a sustainable product.
Ultimately, sustainability to us is keeping the carbon footprint and traceability of our product close to the land in which it was produced.
WHAT IS REGENERATIVE BEEF?
Regenerative means giving more than you take, both to the land and environment but also the multiple species that inhabit the same lands, such as migratory mammals, birds, insects, and microbiota.
WHY GRASS FED AND FINISHED?
It's the natural way. The momma cow’s milking ability off of grass is unsurpassable. Finishing out on grass gives the cattle the same freedom they had when they were born. The grass finish isn’t just about the cow…
SO WHAT’S THE BIG PICTURE?
